"Nollywood And The World"
There has also been criticisms against the nollyhood from different quarters by people who think quality is played down on in the sector. I must write though, not as an advocate, but as someone who by involvement know the plight of Nigerian producers who has little or no support for their film projects, unlike thier counterparts in Hollyhood, Bollyhood, and the Australian film industries who gets support from government and private sectors.
In my opinion, I think the nollyhood deserves to be encouraged…

George Clooney In The Courtroom
MILAN -- It's no wonder the Italian businessmen claimed George Clooney was behind their fashion line - the actor knows how to wow an audience whether he's on the red carpet or the witness stand.
Maintaining his trademark aura of cool, Clooney delivered a few wisecracks Friday as he testified against three defendants accused of co-opting his name.
The appearance of the star, who maintains a villa on nearby Lake Como but is rarely seen here in public, sent the normally staid courthouse into full celebrity tilt. Clooney had to push his way through a wall of cameras into the courtroom, saying "scusa, scusa," - "Excuse me" in Italian - and warning "Don't crush my lawyers."
Throngs of fans packed the tiny courtroom. The judge repeatedly told spectators to be quiet and tossed out one woman who snapped a photo of Clooney.
The 49-year-old actor wore a navy blue suit, crisp white shirt and red-spotted blue tie as he addressed the court through an interpreter, throwing in occasional words in Italian and apologizing for his lack of fluency.
He testified that photos which purported to show him with two of the defendants were doctored and signatures on documents were also forged.

Mercy Johnson Set For The Alter
Mercy, we reliably gathered has fixed the traditional wedding on her birthday 17th of August and efforts are geared toward achieving this date. Our source however declined to make further comment about the marriage
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Guinks Investment, one of the producers based in Asaba, Mr. Uzo Godson Nwaosu has frowned at the frequent negative reports against Mercy, describing such reports as “wicked and malicious.”
Mercy, according to him, remain one of the best actresses in Nollywood today who desires to be celebrated and not to be condemned in the pages of newspapers and magazines.
“Mercy has a large heart. She’s humble, kind and well-behaved. She’s the best actress to work with, here in Asaba,” he muted, adding that Mercy will soon get married to the shame of her critics.
The Kogi state-born actress, confirmed her marriage to HVP, in a telephone chat. “Yes, I will be getting married soon.” she gushed.
Last year, rumour mongers had it that Mercy was getting married to her lover of many years, but she was quick to counter the stories.
As the most sought-after-actress in Nollywood at the moment, Mercy has been a consistent victim of negative reports in the media. Yet, the harmless actress has remained herself, resolute and unbending in the course of pursuing her career in acting. She once declared “ I pay no attention to all the nonsense that has been written about me.”

How To Become A Professional Singer
Things You'll Need:
- Great singing skills
- CD demo and copies
- Booking agency and/or manager (recommended)
- Press kit (including 8 x 10 photo(s))
- “Billboard Magazine” subscription (recommended)
- “Songwriter’s Market” book (recommended)
-
Step 1Take singing lessons and participate in school band and vocal performances, and music classes. If you can afford to do so, locate and hire a singing tutor.
-
Step 2Prepare copies of your resumé.
-
Step 3Attend a recording session and produce a CD of your vocals and songs. Recording studios will charge you by the hour for studio time. You’ll need to record at least three songs for a good demo CD.
-
Step 4Make copies of an 8 x 10 photo featuring you (and your band, if applicable) singing. Professional photo duplicators such as ABC Pictures can produce great photos.
-
Step 5Audition for singing roles in local theater stage musicals and, if you desire, join your church choir. You can also audition in talent contests. Many clubs hold open microphone nights where amateur singers can compete in talent contests.
-
Step 6Prepare press kits. Kits should contain an 8 x 10 photo, news clippings, resumé, DVD of any of your performances, presentation folder, promotional materials and favorable reviews from print and video media.
-
Step 7Find a talent agent and submit your press kit by mail or via delivery. Although not required, you will be much busier with the assistance of a booking agency.
-
Step 8Locate record companies that you are interested in working with in the future. Call the record labels prior to submitting your demo package to make sure that they are accepting submissions. Most major record companies don’t accept outside submissions. “Songwriter’s Market” contains information about record labels and each company’s submission process as well as names of people with the record label who you should contact.
-
Step 9Submit your CDs and press kits to record producers and/or record labels. You should address your submission to the attention of the A & R Department of the record company.
-
Step 10Perform live as much as possible. Record company A & R representatives frequently go to clubs to scout and recruit new artists.

Shooting A Music Video

Music videos can be expensive items. It hurts spending thirty, fifty or even a hundred grand of your hard-earned money on something you - basically - give away for free!
So, it can be very tempting to save some money by shooting your own music video. I mean, video cameras come on cell phones nowadays, and HDTV is becoming less expensive. Cameras are everywhere. They're ubiquitous. And, deep down, everyone really fancies themselves a director - sorry, an auteur, don't they?...
So, should you consider going it alone and shooting your own music video?
The short answer: NO.
Directors, producers, cinematographers and production designers are all artisans. It takes years of study and work experience to become a decent film-maker. You wouldn't leave your cd layout to some guy you passed on the street, would you? So why even consider doing something as important as your first music video all by yourself? It may look like simple work, but believe me, producing and directing ain't easy!
Can you tell the difference between a lower budget independent movie and a Hollywood summer blockbuster? Of course you can! That's exactly the difference between shooting the video yourself and hiring a professional. You don't know how to make the movie look that glossy and perfect - but the professionals do! The best you could hope for is a decent indie flick. Sure, every once in a while a home-made music video comes along and does well. But, can you even think of one (and, no, Fatboy Slim's "Praise You" was NOT an indie video, the budget was actually massive). So, stick with the professionals. Let them do it all for you.
However, the single biggest reason I would dissuade you from shooting your own music video is probably not one you would have guessed:
Insurance!
